Artist Chen Zhishan presented an interactive workshop “Human Monster: Paper Monsters Tell You Who You Are!” for the exhibition The Endless Garment: Research Station at X Museum. Focusing on our daily life and personalities, the “Human Monster” workshop encouraged participants to think about and recognize their innermost emotions through group discussions, text readings, and content creation. The workshop aimed to discuss the relationship between what we wear on a daily basis and personal identity. Starting with an artist–led reading session on clothing and social roles, the workshop initiated group discussions that created virtual stories, ones that departed from stereotypes. Participants then worked together to visualize these stories on paper through collage, drawing, and writing. Eventually they “wore” these stories as garments on their bodies.About The Artists
