ABOUT THE EVENT

Echoing the concept of “con–senting” introduced by Aristotle, the exhibition How Do We Begin? reflected how this idea was interpreted in contemporary society. “Con–senting” symbolizes the way we relate to our families, communities, and ourselves, and reveals the importance of our mutual experience of perceiving, sharing, and experiencing. The rapid development of information technology, media and the Internet have greatly increased the efficiency of information exchange, thus expanding the social sphere and channels of “con–senting.” However, the elderly are still living with traditional social interactions as they are less attuned to technology. Through this residency project, the artist team “The Very OK” aimed to bring youth culture closer to the elderly community through local art practices and online information sharing, then achieve “con–senting” between different groups. In 2020, “The Very OK” project celebrated its first year. X Museum invited the artist team and Beijing ONE Art & Creativity Institute to talk about their thoughts on “con–senting,” sharing how they had reached out to seniors and brought them closer to young people through social media.
