ABOUT THE EVENT
Musicologist Ann Buckley wrote in Music in Art that music can be seen as a collection of visual images; the way it works on the human senses represents an “auditory vision.” As real–time media and the Internet facilitate images as part of people’s daily lives, music serves as a carrier of images and creates more intricate narratives in this era.
Different art has its own medium boundaries. However, when specific music and images are transferred into humans’ brains, what are they like? This music performance featured several musicians and visual artists who are active and familiar with Beijing underground electronic music in order to explore the answer. “Shy People @ X: Daydreaming” explored the boundaries between music and image as well as their respective malleability. Full of sounds and colors, the imagination of music transformation, the connections between images, and the impact of imaginary sequences on consciousness were all communicated through this live experience.
