ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

What exactly are we talking about when we discuss signs, minerals and residues? On 24 July 2022, X Museum invited artist Cao Shuyi, researcher Li Hang and artist xindi for an intimate and emotional conversation drawing on their longstanding personal practices and experiences. As the three guests explore their individual artistic practices through ecological issues, they forge a shared working path with one another. This conversation attempted to follow their natural everyday discussion and experiment with a dialogue that is more in tune with individual emotions and experiences in the context of an academic framework. Through asking each other questions based on their friendship and interests in practice, the conversation weaved together their recent work, lives, readings and reflections. They also shared their perceptions of ecology, scientific and technological epistemology, language, materials, memory, desire and care.
