ABOUT THE EVENT

“The Altar of Sound” is an ongoing live art project led by artists from the fields of literature and music. It is a collaboration between contemporary poets and handpan players, supported by synthesizers and electric guitar. By creating an experimental electroacoustic atmosphere, the project hopes to find the rhythm of language through music as well as the artists’ inspirations and emotions. The live performance was composed of time, space, sound, and people, with poetry as a lingering aspect, which made the experience whole and perfect. Through this new form of performance, the poets and musicians aimed to transfer the poetry from text to life, releasing the meaning of the words from the physical paper. As the first exhibition at X Museum, How Do We Begin? presented the impact of technology on art and society at the beginning of the Web 4.0 era. Inspired by this topic, independent poet Hong Xing, musicians Lin Yun and Xiao Conglin, and handpan player Yin Yin presented a live performance with poetry and music titled “Three Times the Sunrise.” The performance explored the beginning, or “birth” of the current era through a collection of poems.
