About The Event

As cultural institutions facing the a general audience, art museums are often seen as pivotal hubs connecting artists with audiences, bridging art with the public, and acting as a vivid playground for cultural output and reception. How to design and promote a cultural project that could potentially engage the entire community as well as provide them with the most vibrant cultural content? This might be a question for all public art institutions to explore. X Museum invited the curators of public programs from three art institutions in Beijing to discuss the planning, promotion, and participants of public programs, as well as its publicness and educational natures. Through this conversation, the museum hoped to create a platform for open discussion and information exchange. The museum wanted to share experiences with practitioners and audiences in the field, understanding the concept of “public” from both the creators and receivers of content as well as the roles and meanings of public programs for art institutions.
