About The Event

Inspired by the idea of fetishism in Issy Wood’s works, the performance “Wonder’s Land” was created with the artist’s fetish of their childhood memory of Teletubbies, as well as their personal experience during the pandemic. The performance investigated the idea of “intimate publics” that was discussed by Jennifer Doyle in her book Hold It Against Me, one catalyzed by the quarantine that blurred the boundaries between our personal and social life. The performance, which included dance, theater, video, and hyper–pop music, all took place on a runway stage. The artist hoped to show a unique perspective on intimacy through this performance and discuss the “public” relationship between the performers and the audience.
